About us
Founded in 1997, the aim of Internet Freaks Luxembourg A.s.b.l. was to provide
free internet access to teenagers living in Diekirch and surroundings;
to guide them while doing their first steps in using the World Wide Web
and to support them creating their first website. Since the beginning,
our objects have followed a constant evolution of these initial goals.
Accordant with our slogan - « We exist to enable
ordinary people to do extraordinary things », our association offers
a platform where all interested people have the possibility to present
themselves on the net. Our task is to provide to these people the required
technical resources (e.g. web space and email addresses) and to help them,
using our know-how, to elaborate and to realise their own web pages.
That’s why Internet Freaks Luxembourg A.s.b.l.
supports a large number of non-profit projects and humanitarian
associations. These associations do generally not have the financial means
to subscribe to the services of a professional internet service provider.
The non profit philosophy also applies to Internet Freaks
Luxembourg A.s.b.l.. Not one of our members, including association management,
receives any salary. Furthermore, all the financial resources are exclusively
employed in the improvement of our technical hardware or to support one
of the selected projects.
In order to be able to finance the technical infrastructure,
Internet Freaks Luxembourg A.s.b.l. offers to private persons or associations
the possibility to use our hardware (web-hosting) or to profit from our
know-how (web-development) in exchange for a small fee. That is the reason
why we ask YOU to be one of our sponsors in order to help us support non-profit
or humanitarian associations.
Please note that even as a non-profit organisation, we
regularly update all our hardware, especially in security matters (e.g.
the latest anti-virus & anti-spam protection). Furthermore, Internet
Freaks Luxembourg A.s.b.l. collaborates with professional Luxembourgish
service providers, who have supported us technically for a long period
now.
